Default R1 popping into neutral after shifting to 2nd

I recently bought a 2000 r1. Just starting to ride the thing and noticed sometimes after it shift into second it will pop into neutral. Anyone know what this is.?

it's not good - to fix it you usually have to split the cases. Probably cheaper to find a used motor/trans and just swap em out.

Yup, thats a common problem. I know a guy who had his fixed on a 1999 r1 and it cost about $900 all together. You could always do it yourself if you have the mechanical skill.... If I'm not mistaken the shift forks wear in a certain way and they won't hold power. This happens on the older R6's as well.

Yea i had it tooked at and its def. the shift forks. Found the forks for real cheap its just labor thats gonna kill me.

Yes indeed it does. Anyone do this for cheap? I'll buy the part and pay someone to put it in. I can't afford the 600 the shop wants.

Did the seller tell you it had this issue? honestly you should bring the bike back to them if they said it was fine.

No, they said it was mechanicly fine. Just had a little cosmetic issue. And hes acting like he never noticed this but the very first time i took it around the blocked it did it. I tried contacting him to see if he could just help fix it and he hasnt replied. I got text messages of him saying it was mechanicly in great shape and nothing was wronmg. Ill take it to court if i have too.
